Dan & Krisie in Criccieth

Image
Photo from Google Earth Our last full day in Criccieth. We have lunch at Caffi Cwrt, a char ming tea rooms, in their back garden. Waitress service, good value and they only take cash . All the other places, using Covid as an excuse, were cashless. In the evening, after long perusal of the take-away menu deciding what to have, we phone our order to Dylans who tell us they are not doing takeaways on Fridays and Saturdays. As we have no white wines, we get a take-away from Spice Bank , and it's very good.  It's been a great week with Dan and Krisie and magnificent weather. Dan was invaluable carrying our cases and belongings up many stairs to the apartment when we arrived, and down again when we departed.

Lunch on Dylan's Deck and Castle F&C in the Evening

Image
Lunch on Dylan's deck, cooked to order from a van by their entrance. Drinks came from another van, but they were out of white wine and bottled still water, so we had Prosecco and Krisie managed to charm an 'ice bucket' for it from the restaurant. Dylans Restaurant In the evening Dan and I queued socially distanced in the street for 40 minutes to get fish'n'chips from the always busy Castle chippie. All they had left was large cod, so that's what we had with chips and mushy peas. Dan and Krisie bought some New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc to go with my Cava and Villa Maria. I had a go with Krisie's fans.... After dinner we walked along the coastal path and Dan and I paddled in the sea . The sun was setting as we walked back. And the moon was shining on the still waters. Dinner with Caroline and Stuart at The Grapes

Image
Nearly everywhere was booked solid so we were lucky Dan managed to get us a table at the Grapes  for dinner with Carline and Stuart. Because of the rule of six, Amy and Elliot couldn't join us for dinner, but the adults had a good meal and surprisingly good wine - Frederico Paternina Banda Azul 2016 at £21.95. Home made Pie of the Day (Beef & Ale) and hand cut chips.

Dinner with Krisie's Parents at Dylans

Dinner with Tom and Joan at Dylans. Krisie was feeling the heat so used her fans - and their light.

We walked along the costal path to Black Rock Sands to meet Krisie and Dan at Shenanigan's pub  for lunch, but the pub was closed and boarded up. So we all went to Borth-y-Gest where only the Seaview Coffee Bar Bistro  was open  doing take-aways. So we sat on benches overlooking the harbour and ate our lunch. Afterwards we went for a stroll along the cliffs. Black Rock Sands pub when it existed - photo taken from Google Earth It's a shame the pub at Black Rock Sands has gone as it's a long walk from Criccieth that we do at least once every time we stay in Criccieth and it was our stop for coffee and sometimes lunch before turning back

Sunday Dinner with Dan and Krisie

To Wales for the week, which coincided with hot still weather. We had the top floor of this pink house on the sea front. Kitchen Dining table Living area View from side window Front view  The apartment didn't have ice trays, so Dan bought us plastic sheets with moulds you fill with water and freeze. And I ordered a non-slip mat for the shower, which arrived the following day thanks to Amazon Prime .
